You shouldn’t break or puncture the tape in the back of the grip, because it allows moisture and dirt to enter into the shaft, which pretty much defeats the purpose of the extra tape overlapping the shaft. You twist and tuck the tape into the shaft to prevent moisture from entering into the shaft. A punctured hole could cause rust to form inside a steel shafts or your tape may also crack and fray and is harder to remove. The solvent will dry anyways, you do not need to poke a hole in it to dry!

you got it right, the solvent does nothing but melt the tape, when it dries the tape becomes like glue.. you can use any tape under the grip to make it “oversized” but go with masking, cheap and easy..
thanks for the video, does it matter if you get some grip solvent on the the grip (outside of the grip)?
also i get my grips with 3 papers underneath to make them bigger, how is that done? is it just putting 3 layers of masking tape put underneath the double sided grip tape?
Very informative instruction but…pointing a heat gun at a can of mineral spirits may make the spirits angry Also, the blades for the utility knife are replaceable.
Tape comes with our grip pack, but if you have a different style, any double sided tape will do, 90% of shops have it so its not too hard to find, the shaft protector, as I said is usually at golfsmith / edwin watts / or online. thanks
Yes, you can put 1 strip down the middle or you can spiral it down the shaft. It does not need to be more than 5-7 inches long.. and make sure to put a extra piece of tape at the end of the shaft, like when i twist the extra part of the tape. if you need more help, i will post another video for you. thanks.
i’ve bought some grip tape to regrip my clubs but its 3/4 inch tape rather than 2 inch tape. is it ok to spriral the 3/4 inch around the club and then do the process as shown in the vid???
good observation, but when you pop the end of the tape, it usually takes about 45 mins to 1 hour to dry, but around 6 hours cure completely. you can swing the club after about 20-30 mins if its not a full swing.
this video is fine except at the end when he says the club is ready to play. Please leave your club for 24 hours before playing it or else the glue will not stick properly.
Can’t believe that I paid somebody to regrip my club. It’s so easy!
You can also use a air compressor to remove the grip. And since I’m cheap, I can keep the grip.
